Hello! My name is James York and I’m an independent singer songwriter and guitar player based out of the Bay Area. I write personal songs that about my relationships, experiences, and thoughts about the world. I was first inspired to pick up the guitar hearing my first Bob Dylan tracks at 17. My first EP "Addicted to Optimism” is my tribute to that music that lit that fire all those years ago. For my live sets, you’ll get my music which is influenced by American and Latin Folk, blues, and rock played on the acoustic, classical, or electric guitars. I play covers of artists such as (of course) Bob Dylan, Arctic Monkeys, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Rise Against, Hozier, and Johnny Cash. I will also sing in Spanish to songs by La Muchacha and Muerdo. Generally, my music is relaxing and down tempo but I can bring the energy and gritty vocals as well.
